This very attractive half timbered 16th century manor hall sits in a large park just south of Manchester and the M60 motorway.
It has Elizabethan furniture in original settings and an interesting collection of 17th century paintings.
In the park Oliver Cromwell keeps an eye on the visitors from a plinth over looking the entrance.
