EelPie Island
Twickenham
Watercolour
18x14 inc mount
The island in the Thames was originally named after the pies made from local river produce. The hotel here became fashionable during the early 20C but it is best remembered now for its music connections in the 50s and 60s with such groups as the Yardbirds and Rolling Stones
With the building gone, the island is now mainly residential with the boat yard on the Twickenham side. The boats waiting to be repaired are seen here during a low tide.
