Amiens Cathedral
Picardy, France
Watercolour
20 x 16 inc mount
The cathedral at Amiens was started in 1220 and is one of the largest gothic structures. The beautiful building has a labyrinth inlaid on the floor.
Nearby the St Leu quarter is picturesque with canals and colourful old buildings. A walk along the river soon brings you to the “hortillons” a fascinating area of 300 hectares of floating gardens where once the townspeople grew their vegetables, but now often used for weekend retreats. Boat trips tour these protected waterways and from them the wildlife, flora and fauna can be enjoyed
